AS we can see nowadays, the Pope of the Vatican normally gets two names, one by birth and the other after being selected as Pope. Also we should remember that the Pope is considered the representative of God on Earth. The same concept applied at the time of the Pharaohs.
The Pharaohs used to have a name at the time of his birth and another one when he becomes a pharaoh and gets a holy position as the representative of God on earth. His birth name becomes preceded by ”The son of the God Ra” or as transliterated from hieroglyphic “Sa RA”, which means literally that he is ”The son of the God”. Then when he is coroneted he is given a second name (just like the Pope), which is always preceded by the expression “King of the North and South” or as transliterated “Nsu Peti”. This, second name is normally a praise to God Ra or It represents one of his attributes. ‘That was the system systemat¬ically used during the different period of the ancient Egyptians whether in the old Kingdom, the middle kingdom, the new king¬dom or even during the late period when Egypt was ruled by rulers of different origins like Nubia, Libya or Greeks.
Investigating the second or coronation name, we find that it always includes the name of God Ra within certain phase. This phase contains limited keywords or attributes. One can easily carry some classification to these phases. In most of the cases it contains three words. Ra is one of them and the two others are between the following key words that finally form the phrase: let first mention some of the transliterated key words and then repeat them in English translation: Meri, Nfr, Ka, Kheper, Ma’at. Jeser, Neb
Beloved, beautiful, self, Manifestation, Goddess Ma’at, power. Patron.
Let us take some examples of coronation names. First we will start with the coronation name of King Ramses II, which reads “Jeser-Ma’at-Ran” which means “Powerful is the justice of Ra”.
The coronation name of Akhenaton is “Nfr-Khpro-Ra” which is the manifestations of Ra are beautiful”.
Finally, a third example is the coronation name of Queen Hatshepsut which is “Ma’at-Ka-Ra”, meaning “RA is the self of the goddess of Justice Ma’at”.
Investigating these names shows many facts. First of all, since the name of God Ra is a common factor of all these names, that means he was the dominating God or “Our father in heaven”.
The other gods represent different manifestations of him. For example Ma’at, which is the goddess of universal order, is coupled to him as his self or double. The god Osiris who is the god of under¬world or after life is just a night mirror of god Ra as it was inscribed on the walls of the tomb of Nefertary, which states that Ra becomes Osiris in the night and Osiris becomes Ra in the day.
